  1. Dress nicely and bring a good book and lots of water. There are lines at the Embassies - you'be waiting for 5-8 hours before you get to talk to the officer. Patience! And a big smile!

  2. I don't have any specific personal experience with this, but I could still offer some advice.

When you go to the embassy, be professional.  Be a grown-up.  Have all your papers filled out and ready to go.  Use a small folder or something so they don't get crumpled and messy.  Dress nicely, no holes in jeans, flip flops, etc.  This will all show them that you care and you really want this.

Remember to bring all important forms and documents.  Also, bring a couple forms of identification.

Be calm and confident and relaxed.

Oh, and before you fill out those forms, maybe make copies of them and practice so you don't make any mistakes.  I used to do this with job applications, so if I made a mistake, I could just use another copy of it.  It looks better when it's easy to read and there aren't big areas that you had to scratch out and/or erase.

  3. Get the document of acceptance from the US college and use it to apply at the US embassy for a student visa.  Set an appointment for a date of your interview.
