What gov form do I use to give them with my invoice so they can pay? I am a sole proprietorship, and want to bill that way and not as an individual.

  1. You can still bill it through your business, the W9 is meant only for their protection if you are unincorporated and they pay you more than $600 in a calendar year they need to send you a 1099 form so you have to report the income and they need your info (W9) to do that. In any event you should sent your invoice along with the W9 just put in your federal id number or if you are self-employed use your social security number. Normal business practice.

  2. You need to fill out the W-9 with your Federal ID number.  If you are a sole then you need to put your social ss number on it.  They are the same amount of digits.
