the "owner " of berkshire county freecycle has banned me because we had a personal argument.

so that was her way of "winning". very unfair. she is also spreading gossip about me. she will not tell me why she banned me because she has no proof.

several people in our group have been banned

"because she can". she uses the group for personal requests and she breaks many other rules. i think freecycle is a great group and it should not be controlled by a person like her. many of us have contacted the powers above her to no avail. they do not even answer our emails.

is there anyone out there who can help us???

  1. the owner didn't violate and Yahoo TOS, A Yahoo grup owner can ban a member for any reason and Yahoo could care less but due to the type of group it is, you probably need to go to freecycle.org and file a complaint- freecycle is suppose to do something about this is what I hear

  2. If you think you've been treated unfairly, you can complain by sending an email to info@freecycle.org - or is that what you have tried?

The parent organization tries to keep a loose hand on the moderators, as long as they follow the basic rules. Those can be found here:

    http://www.freecycle.org/faq/faq/faq_gui...

    along with some optional rules.

There is also the Moderator Oath at:

    http://www.freecycle.org/faq/manual/mod_...

So after reviewing the rules and oath, and feel your moderator has stepped outside these, cite specific examples.

  3. As previously stated, the moderator can do whatever they want with no explanation.  Yahoo and Freecycle probably won't get in the middle of it.

You might consider bringing your local recycling efforts to our site - http://free.LocalDataPlace.com - which was built specifically for local recycling.

It's literally a mom and pop operation.  We're very eager to work with the users to make the best experience and are easily reachable via email or IM.

    I hope you'll take a look.

    Ellen.
