  1. i suggest using a different knot to tie on your bait, because some knots can hold larger fishing with out snapping your line then others  or try using a steel leader

  2. if its from a fish then thats odd and not right, but your baits may be getting hooked on the bottom and thats a pain in the *** cause they usually dont come loose the trick is not to have so much wait on your line, cause thats what brings it down. I hope this helps

  3. Have you checked your drag on the reel, it may be set to tight. Another thing too, you should look for is when your spooling new line on your rod. Depending on the type of line, weight, and texture there are certain techniques that are recommended as to applying the line. Another too, is the age on the line and also take in consideration the fact that if you keep you fishing stuff in the car in the summer, that is another no-no and will mess with your line. You may just want to buy new line instead of losing those expensive lures.   I know I fish any time I can get and I also have 2 tackle boxes and 4 expensive rod and reels. It really BITES anytime you lose a lure, especially your fav. Hope I was some help, good luck fishing!!!!! p.s. Have you tried the braided line, good stuff! Gaureented ALOT if any line snapping. HINT: And make sure you have a nailclippers along, big help!

  4. This should not be happening, firstly are your knots all tied correctly, also if you hook a fish you must be applying too much pressure, check that your drag is set so that your line will be released when too much pressure is applied, if the fish wants to run let it, also if your using poor quality or old line then this could be the cause, use a quality lien like sufix, Berkley or stren.

  5. Another cause, aside from what's already been stated, could simply be low grade line. I don't know what you're using, but I would suggest trying some Berkley Trilene XT. I'm also wondering if you're simply fishing areas of submerged cover that may be more suitable for braid. Rock bottom, branches, or something like zebra mussels can can snap line. Try to respool often with quality mono. If need be, try fluorocarbon or braid. This of course depends on the type of fishing you're doing and where you're fishing.

  6. Wish I knew.  I lose lures all the time.  Nothing to do with test weight of the line; I use 6 lb ultralight.  Snags, rocks, etc.  Call it the cost of fishing.

  7. If you have fished this line for a while without inspecting or changing it, I am going to put my money on damaged mono filament being your problem. Even if there hasn't been any spectacular damage done at once by some big-fighting fish, there are a ton of ways that your line will become damaged or brittle through normal use. Rocks and pilings, or really any debris, wear at your line as your retrieve - even if you don't get snagged. Also, old line gets brittle with age. If your line looks dried-out, or is frayed at any point, you probably need to look at respooling the reel with fresh line.

Also worth mentioning is that if you are using any kind of artificials with a spinning or wiggling action, you need to rig a brass swivel head on your leader. This'll allow you to use a spinner or curved spoon without putting twists on your line, which eventually result in bird-nesting and damage.

  8. it might not be your line snaping. it may just be your knot coming untied. that use to happen to me alot. I use the improved clinch knot now & that stoped it. also make sure your line isnt week. if you leave your rods out in the heat it can cause the line to kind of dry rot. I use to keep mine in the back of my suv all the time but have started making sure I bring them into the house so their not sitting out in the heat in my car.

  9. are ur knots tight
