For about a month now I have been going to the gym at least 6 days a week for an hour each day--doing the bike, treadmill, elliptical, etc. I have noticed that I have been very hungry ever since I have started this. Is this normal? I have lost weight but...I don't know I feel like if I keep eating the way I do, I'll gain back all my weight. I have been eating at most 1800 calories a day and at least 1300 a day. I am an 18 year old female.

  1. well its just that your body is not used to it yet keep going and see wat happens hope i helped good luck

  2. you are burning more energy and your body is requiring more fuel.  sounds like you are very healthy.  1800 calories and working out 6 hours a week seems fine.

  3. Once you start working out your body is going to need a lot more calories.  Just make sure you are taking in heathy calrories and not bad stuff!

  4. start walking to

  5. first of all, kudos for exercising as much as you do - i sure wish i had that willpower. and to answer your question, that is perfectly normal for people to get hungrier after they exercise. your body requires more calories when it is not at rest. if anything; its great for your metabolism. i dont think you'll gain anything back. just make sure youre getting enough protein. good luck!

  6. This is normal and healthy!  You WANT to be hungry when you place more physical demands on your body.  This means your metabolic machinery is in fine working order and if you don't fuel it enough, you will run it down and damage it.  From what you described as your formal exercise routine and age/gender, you do not want to dip below 1200-1300 calories in a day, and I would not advise eating more than 2700-3000 calories more than a few days a week.  You are absolutely not eating too many calories at 1800 a day!
