Question:

I have been givin a surfboard (a Shortboard) , will it be easy to stand up?

i alrwady know the standing up lessons etc , and i am tall - just like 5 cm under the board its self? will this make a difference?

  1. No - it will be much harder! Not only to stand up on but also to even catch waves with...

    I always recommend that beginners get a longboard, (at least 9' long), as these are the easiest to catch waves with and balance on to stand up.

  2. it will most likely be more difficult than standing up on a longboard, and it all depends on the wave conditions, but most likely you will be alright with practice.

  3. no, i have been surfing for about 19 years and i got to say a long board is the way to go. thats my opinun. but wen i started at age 8 i hadd a shortboard and i hated it. fallfallfallfallfall all day long. all you need is a 300 dollar 9ft longboard perfect to learn on.
