Can I just lay them out on a table and if so how long will it take before I can package them and put them away? So far I have mint, basil, and sage.

  1. riight.

    herbs. lol

  2. The best thing to do is to tie them together and hang them upside down to dry. Then you can store them in a dry place.

  3. Yes, tie them in bunches and hang them.....but to retain the color, hang them in the closet - they need dark and dry to be their best.

    I've frozen them too.....works good.

  4. You can lay them on a paper towel (one layer thick) to dry.  Depending on the humidity, it will take a couple of days.

You can also microwave them on a paper towel.  Watch them closely, as they can easily burn.  Do them in 5 or 10 second intervals.

You can hang them in a cool dark place.

You can also chop them and freeze them.  They really retain that fresh flavor better when frozen.  Just keep them in labeled plastic bags.

  5. pick them in the morning , rinse them out in case there are some bugs from the garden in them, make bouquets and tie them with some kitchen string make the handle long enough to hang them either in the basement or the kitchen , they will dry and after that you can take the leaves off and store them into glass jars for you to enjoy in your cooking.
