  1. I suggest going to see a vet and talking to him about your hamster. Maybe the blood is because it is so young, or maybe it is from something else, but until you visit a vet, you can't be certain. Thanks for taking care of such a sweet creature though, thumbs up to you! :)

  2. Since he is getting milk every 2 hours he has to go to the bathroom a lot. It is probably just because he is getting more food than he normally would. If he was in a litter with 4 or 5 others he would have to fight for a nipple and also at 8 days old mom probably would not feed them every 2 hours. Plus he is getting as much as he can hold. So he might just be a little constipated from all the milk. Both kitten and puppy milk from the pet store is fine for hamsters, rats and mice. Remember that mom will l**k the babies and it will stimulate them to eliminate. He has to to it on his own. Also he is getting a lot of milk so he probably just got all backed up and he was constipated so there was a small amount of blood. If you do not have any money for a vet wait it out a day and see if there is any more blood or any other symptoms. Also if he feels bloated you may want to take a wet q-tip and put warm water on it and rub the genital area. It will be just like mom l*****g them and can help them to eliminate. If you see any more blood or any other symptoms please take hammy to the vet. Just remember to keep him warm because at his age he would be in a litter with others and mom to stay warm.Good luck.

  3. i dont think puppy milk is right for him, maybe you can buy hamster formula at a special pet supply store? or kitten formula. But you should take it to the vet, if there is one who will take baby hamsters near you.

  4. Aw..  I found something like that once, only it was a baby field mouse.

I don't know about puppy milk, but I read that kitten formula is best.  You might want to go to the store and pick up some dry powder and mix it as the instructions say to.

When he gets older, he doesn't need to eat as much either.  So you might try spacing it out to feeding him every two and a half hours during the day and once right before bed.

Other than that, your hamster may be ready to start moving onto pellets.  Try taking a couple of pellets and dropping a drop of water water on it.  Let the pellet swell up a little so it's softer.  Then try offering it to him//her.  You could always leave a little baby food jar lid with some pellets on it that have swelled up in his or her cage.   After awhile, add a few dry pellets to the mix and let him have those too.

  5. poor guy!!!!! :-(    Take him to the vet ASAP!!!
