I have tried everything from BLW to warm food in the microwave and room temp. Anyway she refuses them but today I refrigerated a jar of pears and gave them to her and she ate almost all of it! I never thought she would like it cold ( she's teething big time...two top are poking through ) could she like the coldness? How does your baby prefer their jar food???

  1. i don't buy jarred food but i do give my baby (7 months) oatmeal or barley in the morning mixed with fruit and i always give it to him cold and he enjoys it (i make a lot and keep little portions frozen then thaw them out in the refrigerator and give it to him cold out of the fridge).

i did read that babies actually often prefer cold food, especially when teething.

  2. If she likes it cold... just keep giving it to her like that. Maybe you just found what she likes.

  3. Emm went through a spurt where all she wanted was fruit...I make her baby food and I would give it to her partially thawed...it had ice crystals still in it and I think it felt good on her teething gums.  I would just give her a bite of veggies and a bite of fruit, she knew she had to eat the veggies to get the fruit.  She is ten months old now and eats everything fine.  I warm her veggies and dinners (because they are kept in the fridge and would be cold) but usually give her the fruit part way frozen.  You might try giving her come fruit "wedges" instead of pieces so she can gnaw on them.  You can slice an apple or pear and put it in the freezer then give it to her.

TO ADD As far as pieces for her to self feed, the bites of fruit you buy in the cans pre diced would be fine.  Also try spicing up her veggies with spices or cheese.

  4. We warm up her oatmeal, veggies and dinner food.  Her fruit and deserts we leave at room temperature.  The cold could definitely help with her teething.  We found out not to put her teethe-rs in the freezer because it can damage her teeth and also make them hurt worse. The fridge for her teethe-rs are great. We went through the same thing at about that same age and the doctor told me that she is just getting bored with her food.  Our baby is nine months old and i recently found out she should be eating allot more off of our table.  Anything that practically dissolves in her mouth is ok.

  5. my son never really cared about jarred food but better the BLW way and when he was teething he did like cold food better- so i would cut soft cold fruits up and give them to him. relax though. your baby is only 7 months right now. sometimes it takes other children a little longer. my son didnt really take to solidds until almost 9 month and then i couldnt get him to stop eating

  6. My daughter is 7 1/2 months and seh will eat it any temp. but she's getting 2 more teeth on top (middle and one on the side. seh already has one top middle and one on the side and her bottom 2). she does seem to like it straight out of the frig lately. i think she does like the cold

  7. My 9 month old has became disinterested in Baby food as well. Since she realizes that she can eat what "Mommy & Daddy" eat, she doesnt want baby food, she wants table food.

Try giving her some table food- Such as mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, carrots, Chicken Noodle soup *Be careful with the peices of chicken in it*, small peices of bread, macaroni & cheese...ect....

However, since she is teething she may just not be interested because it hurts her gums right now...So, just continue to help her get thru the teething process- Also- Gerber makes some teething biscuits that helps and also a frozen waffle.

  8. Alyssa loves table food. She isn't thrilled about jar food anymore. Have you tried giving your baby some hard biscuits to chew on while teething? It is common to be uninterested in food while teething.

  9. If she's teething, the cold feels good. Try giving her a dose of Tylenol 30 minutes before feedings - it might take the discomfort away. If she's bottle-fed, try offering her a cup - sucking makes their mouths hurt. Otherwise, offer her anything she normally eats - just cold. For a few days it won't be terrible.

  10. Every baby is different so it's hard to say what's going on with your daughter.  Many babies are interested in eating some type of solid food by the time they are 6 months old, but some just don't care for anything other than breast milk or formula until they are considerably older.  Until a baby is around 12 months old, breast milk and/or formula will provide enough vitamins and nutrients for proper growth and development.  My own youngest daughter was not interested in anything but breast feeding until just before she turned 7 months.  At the time we didn't know it was called Baby Led Weaning, but that is what she did.  She seemed interested in what we were eating so we'd give her small bites off our plate at first.  We basically skipped the commercially prepared baby food all together.  I know several babies who exclusively breast fed until they were around 9 months old.  You may want to skip the solid food for a couple weeks and stick with just breast milk (or formula) then try her again on solids.  Some babies aren't really into pureed foods and prefer small chunks instead.  With my youngest, by the time she was 9 months old, we would just put her in her high chair with tiny pieces of what we were eating and she was a happy girl.  Some babies don't like to be spoon fed and prefer to finger feed themselves.  It will probably take a bit more experimentation before you find what will work best with your daughter.  If she is nursing about 5 times a day or drinking that many 6-8 ounce bottles she will be getting enough to eat.  She may just not be ready for solids yet and there really isn't a good reason to rush her into it.
