Up untill now we neither had the money or the will to invest in infrastructers.

Are there any plans in the pipelines even on paper at this time? There so much rainfall in this blessed land, if only there is water manangement

Besides never running out of water, so much more scpoe for water based recreation which is almost absent in India.

  1. This was started sometime back during the BJP rule but it met a lot of opposition from different people. One additionall advantage of this scheme maybe to create extensive waterways links to different places, boats are cheaper to operate than buses/trains

  3. you're right. Water management is going to become one of the most important things for us to do. And we all need to start doing something in that sector now, not later when it's too late. " cause when it's too  late, it's too late. It's so stupid that people can't see it's importance and significance. And it' s totally ridiculous that we live on a globe cover in 70% or so, of water, and yet we have water shortage. There ought to be many possibilities all over the globe, only not enough initiative. Too many people can't see what's most important. That's sad, real sad, indeed.

  4. I have heard of that as well.  I doubt it will work very well for very long.  Flood plains are flood plains.  The City of New Orleans learned that the hard way.  The best bet is to use the flood plains as agricultural land and build on the high ground.  The more you try to "hold back the water" the worse the consequences when it fails.

  5. Dear sir we have nationalized several sectors. But since the rivers are considered to be the property of state government it is very difficult to join the rivers. Politicians are very selfish people. They do not work for the interest of our nation. The first thing is to object anything suggested by the ruling party by the opposition partly. They fail to analise the individual cases on its use and merits.Unless India becomes under the full rule of central government no useful projects will come up in our country. It is our fat.

  6. I had heard of such a plan - linking Northern rivers like Ganga etc with South flowing rivers- Narmada,Tapi ,Cauvery etc or may be linking Central India Rivers with Southern India Rivers.

But there are some hurdles in form of Finance, Logistics as well as due to the magnitude of achieving the final goals.
