I am now in the 10th grade and have no friends whatsoever. I really really really want to go to regular school next year, but I don't like meeting new people. I wouldn't know how to make any friends, but I want to make new friends. So what should I do continue being home schooled and miserable with no friends or try to go to school and make friends

  1. Why do you have no friends?  Do you sit in your house all day and do nothing?

Why not go out and get a job?  Volunteer?   Join a youth group, sports team, computer club or something similar.   If you have a tough time meeting people you can work into it slowly instead of jumping into a school setting.

However, you need to get out of your house.  Very few hs'ers sit inside and meet no one.

  2. I would try to go to a school, but that is completely up to you. If you choose to continue to home school there are other ways to meet friends.  Get a job, join a club, join a sports team, start a hobby.  or I know of in some towns they have homeschooling clubs that they meet and hang out once a week.  good luck and just put your self out there and you will meet new people.

  3. It sounds like an oxymoron with your claim that you don't like meeting new people.  Every single person in school is going to be a new person.

You're going to benefit more by being in school with other people, but if you're going to college, you're probably never going to see the people in the high school ever again after graduation.

See if your parents will let you go to the high school until you get a feel on whether you like it and the education they provide is even worth it.  You may find they don't have classes to challenge you, or the education you already received is putting you at a 12 grade level and you're just repeating classes you have already mastered.

There's no way to tell how things will work out until you go there.

  4. If the prospect of High School (a socially difficult time for anyone) is too frightening, there are other ways to meet people and make friends.

    1) Get a part-time job

    2) Join a hobby club

    3) Join a community sports team or YMCA

    4) Use the Internet to find/meet others in your area (Myspace, etc.)

  5. Im homeskewled and it has it's up's and downs, if you feel your ready to go to public skewl i would go, or you cold try a homeskewl group, they meet once a week, and it's a good way to meet new people, im sure there are some in ur area

  6. go to school

its the best thing you could do

besides its much harder to get in to collage if your home schooled

  7. go to school and make friends or get out in the world and stay home schooled

  8. You would need to look at what is preventing you from meeting people and making friends right now and decide what, if anything, would change by you attending public school.

It is a rarity to hear of a homeschool student having "no friends whatsoever" in the latter part of 2007. Most areas have a plethora of homeschool groups and activities from which to choose.

Your screen name sounds like you like to play tennis, so what is keeping you from making friends on the courts?

The fact that you can admit that you don't like meeing new people and you "don't know how to make friends" tells me either you are not really serious or you have some issues that will not be resolved by changing your surroundings.

How about spending the remainder of this year trying to make some friends and seeing how it goes. Join some more activities. If you are not part of a co-op or an activity group, join one.

All it takes to make friends is to be one.Smile. Say hello. Stike up a conversation. It is not difficult but you will have to put in some effort.

  9. Just go to school and after a while you will just meet people cause you sit next to them everyday. You start walking the halls and stuff and you don't even have to try to meet people, you just do. People will also be nice to you cause youre new and everyone else has been there for 2-3 years so they will talk to you.
