  1. Thank you and please are good words to always use.

  2. be respectful of the elderly. and dont talk to fast if your an american.

  3. Courtesy and common respect. Jamaicans on a whole are pretty relaxed if you show them respect you will have a great time.

Not sure of your friend had children, but most Jamaicans will use corporal punishment for the most egregious misbehavior.

  4. Always, I mean always, pass the chalice on the left hand side.

  5. Nothing really.  Jamaica is really americanize so there isnt much difference.  Just be urself.

  6. I was in Jamaica in February and they were quite different then Americans, life style wise. I had a few intersting conversations with a few of them, talking about their life and culture, and the way it sounded is that if you get involved with the wrong jamaicans, it can be very dangerous due to drugs and gang violence.

  7. Ok so we here is just like you...except we appreciate manners . Also dnt skin up yuh face at the food its the best youll ever taste. but u know i think youll enjoy yourself

  8. just be on your best behaviour. you will enjoy urself considering that jamaicans practically do and say everything different from americans. lol. enjoy.

  9. Don't try to speak TOO much like a Jamaican. They may think you're mocking them.

But...just show them respect and they WILL show it back to you.

Oh and don't believe EVERYTHING people tell you about Jamaica/Jamaicans.........98% is not true!

  10. Just act like you would like them to act at your house.  There aren't any "cultural" differences that you need to be aware of.  Bring something from home for the family: candy, snack food, toys for the kids, etc.

  11. This is one of the "Jamaican hospitality" that Jamaicans are known for. If they have children something would be nice for the kids and for the house.

General respect especially for the elders and others. Do not assume you are getting a maid service within the family pick up after yourself..

    Explore the local foods.

Otherwise enjoy your stay. You will have a great time.
