AMD ATHLON 64*2 / 5000+ PROCESSOR.

2GIG DDR2 With Nvidia 8400 on board.

Just wondering if anyone knows what kind of processing speed it may have and would i be able to run most, if not all games out right now.,

  1. The AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ is a 2.6GHz Dual-core processor. Compare it to its equivalent speed Intel, however (E4700/E6700/E6550/E8200) and it looks more like a 2.0GHz processor.

What do you mean most if not all? That rig couldn't handle a game from 5 years ago at max detail without crashing or freezing. It wouldn't even be able to handle Crysis at Medium. Apart from the 8300 series, the 8400 series is the worst eighth gen nVidia card out there. Even the 9800GX2 struggles, so I don't know what you're gloating about. That's a media PC rig, not a gaming rig. Gaming rigs run Intel, and even Media PCs run at least a 6000+ Athlon 64 X2 if not a Phenom.

  2. It's 2.6 gig. dual core. Seems pretty reasonable.

I hear it's possible to overclock them to 3.2 gig, but I wouldn't recommend it.

  3. its not terrible - you could run most games - why not download some free benchmarking stuff...

  4. The processing speed is 2.6GHz

  5. Technically, AMD Athlon X2 5000+ does tell you the processing speed, but if you look at the retail version here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as... , you'll see it's 2.6 GHz with a dual core. That CPU will handle pretty much all the current games and then some.

The Nvidia 8400 GPU, however, is pretty anemic for gaming. You really want something better. At least an 8800. Look at Tom's Hardware VGA charts at http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/deskt... and also their latest graphics card articles at http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/Comp... Especially look at the monthly "best video cards for the money" such as the one for August at http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best...

  6. Good processor I suggest more ram and no wary

    Review of your processor here:

    http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/3...

  7. Go to start-run and type 'DXDIAG' in the box, this shows lots of info for your PC.

  8. Your processor is 2.6GHz

You should be fine running almost all games but your video card will be limiting you. Your going to need to upgrade it if you want the games to run smooth.

  9. Funny thing about AMD is that they always call their processors something like 1700, 2600, 5000. They have a good reason for this, lets take the AMD ATHLON 64*2 / 5000+ for example even though it only has a clock speed of 2.6GHz AMD maintain that their processor (because of it's architecture) can perform the same work load as an Intel processor with a clock speed of 5Ghz (of course I mean a processor with at least 2 cores).
