Ok so my dad has a Harley Davidson and he rides it all the time (cruising around country roads, around town, etc.) When I turn 18 (in March) I wanna be able to ride with him. Well I wont have much money to work with and the Harley that I want is way out of my price range, and I don't want a small Harley either and what ever I buy I want brand new. So I started looking at Sports bike, not for the speed but for the looks. I love the way they look. I will be using this for taking cruises on like my dad does with his bike ( I will not be hot rodding and racing). The R1 is in my price range. I was wondering if this bike would be ok for what I want to use it for. The only other issuse I wonder about is that I'm 6'8 and 265 pounds, am I to big for this bike? Would I look stupid on it? Please help me with this I really don't know what to do...

  1. I'm 6'5 and it is small on me, if you have long legs forget about it. Best bet is to have a sit but I don't think your would be comfy on it. Sports bikes are generally small as they are made by j**s or italians who are known for being averagely shorter than the rest of the word. The Triumph Daytona 675 is the most comfortable I have sat on, but I think you may be to big for that too, best bet is to have a look around some bike shops and have a sit on different machines.

  2. at 6'8" you'd look big on any bike. The R1 doesn't handle as well as the R6 on those curvy country roads. The R6 looks the same, is unnoticeably smaller and is more agile in the twisties.

Go for the R6. So what one goes 185MPH and the other only 160MPH! That's the only signifigant difference between the two bikes as far as you are concerned.

You'll be cramped on any sportbike.

  3. look into the hayabusa or the zx-14.  The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 has the superbike look, but its a touring bike, it's big, and it's also the fastest bike on the face of the earth.  I have the 14 myself, it's an amazing bike.

  4. yes your right that a harley would be much more than a sport bike.  i love the look of the R1 also...

im not exactly sure how to help you.

i know you can get a brand new R1 for about 12 grand.

it would be much cheaper to buy a used one in nice condition.

you should fit on the bike. ive seen people about your size ride them.

Also, they are great for riding around town but they also have tons of power and are lots of fun.
