  1. I am bipolar.  I was once placed on Zyprexa.  It did work for me.  However, besides the possibilty of contributing to becoming diabtec, I experience a severe weight gain.  It took a short time to get off .  I was place on another med.  I didn't have any withdrawal problems.

I hope that you are being seen by a psychiatrist and are not trying to get off the med yourself.  Many meds for mental disorders need to be monitored by a qualified physicians to insure that there are no adverse side effects or wihdrawal symptoms.

    God bless.

  2. I was on Zyprexa. I took it at night, to help me sleep.

It worked, but then after about  weeks, I gained alot of weight, and I have never had a weight problem.

So he took me off it, and gave me Seroquel instead. I did not have to taper off or anything, just take the new pill.

HOWEVER.. I did have a racing heart at night, and hot fashes, for a few nights, it wasn't fun, but not terrible. I really think it was withdrawal.

At least now you will know what to expect, if anything at all.

If you are scared or something, maybe because you are having a drug test, don't be, just tell the nurse at the lab, and show her the bottle, and they will make a note of it.

  3. It sounds like you don't want to take Zyprexa any more.

I took Zyprexa and I gained fifteen pounds.  Talk to your doctor about finding another medication that will help without the side effect of such weight gain.  Good Luck.
