At 30 weeks I started having contractions every 5 minutes for about 60 sec each. Now I am 37 weeks, 80% effaced and 3 cm dialated. My doctor told me to call him when the contractions feel ANY different as I may not know when I go into labor. How much longer can it take?

  1. Carry water around with you and try drinking a bit more, never force yourself to drink but many of us are very used to ignoring thirst.

Also taking red raspberry leaf tea will help make the contractions more efficient and for many moms it reduces braxton hicks (unless mom starts taking 4-5 times the normal amount).  Red raspberry leaf tea (or capsules) also prevents pre-term and post-term birth.

  2. Its different for everyone, when I was pregnant with my daughter, I had an exam on a tuesday was 70% effaced and 3cm dialated, and my water broke the next night

  3. I'm going through something similar.  I've been dilated since 32 weeks.  I'm almost 37 weeks and I'm 5cm, 80 percent.  I literally feel like I can't take it anymore.  Every week I'm more dilated and I'm in so much pain constantly.  Plus, when I have contractions, I can't breathe and I sweat really bad.  Now, I've been bleeding for 3 days off and on and they can't do anything about it because I don't have any medical problems, I'm not having contractions and they don't induce until 39 weeks.  I'm all for letting the baby come natural, but this is a little excessive.

  4. well hopefully you'll have your baby within a week or so! take long walks, and do as much house chores as you can. its sure to help soften the cervix up more and coax the baby out. I'm sitting at those stats right now, and due in a couple days, haven't had any regular contractions though! ...I hope we both have our babies soon!!
