  1. Rubbish answers, sorry.

You need to complete a form P50 and send it to your tax office with the P45 you received from your employer, plus the supplementary P45 which should come with your bonus. I think the P50 can be downloaded from www.hmrc.gov.uk

  2. You will get it back at the end of the year when you files your personal income tax return. That is the only way.

  3. Just contact human resources and ask them not to take any federal withholding.  They'll have you fill out a new W-4.  They can't give you back any of the withholding you had previously, but they can change the deduction on your bonus check.

  4. Phone your tax office and ask them for a claim form.

  5. You'll get it back when you file your taxes next year. It will show that you overpaid.

  6. You don't say what your future plans are. If, within the next month, you are either going to start another job, or claim jobseekers, your refund will come from there, and you will need to pass on forms P45.

Form P50 only applies if you will do neither before next 5th April, when you can fill in part 2 of the form, and can claim the refund for the year. If you will be either working or claiming jobseekers, but not for more than a month hence, fill in part 1, and your refund will only be up to that time. You can download form P50 from www.hmrc/p50.
