What is a good website/book to help me improve my shots. I just can't figure out how to see the angles.

  1. idk about a website but for me is to get above the table looking straight down on it(im taller so this is easier) and picture a line between the object ball, rail, and pocket. find that spot on the rail that you think would give you that perfect angle and mark it in your mind. get behind the cue and find where to hit to put the ball onto that spot. try to avoid any english and also make sure that the cue doesnt come off the object ball to get in the way of it. just practice. if you find the object ball never has the right angle try an angle different then what you have. trial and error.

  2. practice shots to the left, then to the right.

  3. Just for practice use a mirror shoot object ball at reflection of pocket ,I think thats what he said or thight sight from desired pocket to ref.of object bsll then that would be your aim point on rail --center ball hit no spin

  4. Never really have been able to master it either....all kinds of different ways to do this but the "1/2" tip theory that Bert Kinister preaches....works most of the time for me.....I just try my hardest to avoid them.....if ever the slightest angle I will get my "Dr Giggles" knife out and cut it.....check Bert Kinisters web site and he has a training tape on it......briefly....you hit the cue ball dead center....then you visualize the tip going forward to the object ball and you put 1/2 of the tip on the outside of the ball...."full tip" at times depending on the angle.....medium speed....little more to it then just that...order the tape...really works!

  5. Welcome to the club. For years that was the hardest thing for me to do. I was lucky to make one out of every five. Cost me a lot of games.

I have been shown four ways to set up bank shots... one-rail, two-rail, three-rail, etc. Aside from other players showing me, there are books with diagrams and helpful hints.

I got mine from a local pool room. Also found a couple at the library.

Practice, practice and more practice. Now I make about three outta five. Nowhere near where I want to be, but a whole lot better than where I was.

Good luck and good shooting, Jay
