I have been re-using the same store bought bottle of water at work for about 2 and a half weeks. I have just?

been re-filling it with the water at the water cooler. Well today I took a sip and realized afterwards it smelt AWFUL. I threw the bottle away and later on got extremely sick. Can anyone give me more information on what illnesses could occur by re-using the same store bought water bottle and re-filling it over and over? I did not wash it as it was just a bottle of "Smart Water". Help!

don't know what it could be, but I rountinely refill water bottles at my house...and have for quite a while.  I buy a dozen 25oz bottles for the adults, and about a dozen 8oz bottles for the kids. Just to be on the safe side I would bring in a new bottle every monday and throw it out on friday.

It could've been bacteria from backwash, maybe just a viral bug or a bit of the flu.  Hope I helped!
