Question:

I have been really down in the dumps lately. All I want to do is isolate myself and eat. Anyone have advice?

All I want to do is lay in bed, watch tv and eat. I dont want to go out or do much of anything. I just feel yucky about... I don't know. Does anyone have any suggestions that dont include a therapist or medication. Right now i'm a full time student and I dont have health insurance.

  1. You have grown up thinking that what someone says or thinks controls how you feel. This is not true.

    It is always the way we see things that make the way it is. You need to change the way you look at things.

    For example - If someone lost their job, they can think "it is the end of the world for me". Or they can look at it another way. They can think "what a wonderful opportunity I now have to find a better job, one that I love and more money".

    If someone doesn't "like you", you can think "woe is me, I'm very unpopular without any friends". Or you can think "thank you my friend for showing me that I need to love myself more, so that you can love me".

    If you want anything, you have to give it away first.

    If you want to be loved or liked by others, - you have to like or love others.

    If you want friends - you have to give friendship to others.

    if you want happiness - you have to give happiness to others.

    Do all the above and more for others, and then watch the friendships grow. As this grows, your self confidence will grow, as you see just how clever and nice you are.

    Once you can see you are a really nice person, others will see that you are also.

    The power is in your hands.


  2. You sound depressed. Get out a piece of paper and list all the things you need to do and on a another page list all the things you would like to do. Choose one on both list and jot down a specific time to do both.

  3. By medication does that mean you won't take vitamins? It may be just that simple. Or it could be something serious. You may need to see a doctor in order to find out what's wrong. It could be the season, your diet, or a situation going on in your life that I could never know about. If you can't figure it out then I'd try the vitamins and daily exercise. That may shake you out of it. It may be that you're just in a "funk" as I call it. Something that will pass with time. Just keep track of it and don't let it get you so far down that you can't get back up! Best of luck.  

  4. Watch a movie with a character that's outgoing.

    You'll want to be like her after that, trust me.

  5. im english and so i have free health care but in my experiance the worst thing you can do is the thing you want to doi the most because if you do that you will become fat home bound unemployes and utterly alone so dont do it all i can tell you to do is get out there and find a man who you canrelate to and get along with

    find a man!!   he will never let you be bored again
