  1. it will probably be a little hard to get back to running when you return, but you should be fine.  If at all possible go for a quick jog in nyc or go for a swim.  But walking around in the streets will definitely help keep you in shape. So don't worry too much, enjoy your trip!

  2. you wont get out of shape i dont know where these people get this stuff just do some crunches or something, dont be a couch potato and youll be fine.

  3. No, Your cardio doesn't go down that fast.  And the walking will help your muscles. I went to New York for three days and nothing really happened.

  4. no. youll be fine.

2 weeks or more have an affect

  5. like you said you will be walking a lot, so no you wont be terribly out of shape. but you will get out of shape. try to walk at a faster pace and take the stairs instead of the elevator as much as possible. park farther away from the stores or wherever if you can. maybe jog in place or jump and do situps before bed.

  6. Yes you will die of a heart attack.

  7. No I don't think so. I went on vacation for a week and only ran once. I couldn't fit anymore runs in because I was injured, so I just went to the hotel gym and biked. I didn't get out of shape either. I think you'll be fine. Just watch what you eat. Enjoy your time in NYC!

  8. Dude! You are going to one of the best places to run in the world and you won't be running! Wish I could visit just to run central park - with my pepper spray of course.

  9. If you are a teenager then yes 5 days will be too long without doing some training. My experience is that it takes about 3 years for the body to get used to training. When you take 5 days off after running for 6 months it is different to someone who has run for 5 years and doing the same. I would think it would take you 1 to 2 weeks to get you back to the level you are at now.

I have been a tourist in NYC, and I went to the runners world office and went running with a nurse in Central Park. Treat these opportunities as a tourist adventure and you end up seeing things that you normally would not.

Even if you can get one run in on the 3rd day that would be a real help, and make it pretty solid.

There may be an opportunity to use a gym while there

  10. No, not really.

It would take a little bit longer than that.

I suggest you just jog in place while you enjoy your stay in NY. Try stretching out a lot too.

    Hope this helps you!

    Best wishes!

  11. No you wont, chill!

Walking will be a good thing too. Plus, you should give your body a break from all the running. Just enjoy it! It's only 5 days. Don't worry about it.

  12. hahahah FOOLS.

    IT WILL NOT HURT YOU.

sorry I don't want that to sound angry. But seriously, if you've been running all summer..Sure your first run after the five days will be painful. And maybe the second even worse...But that's completely natural and normal. Just like... do you think if a person has been bench pressing 100 pounds consistantly all summer, and then they can't make it to the gym one week.. do you think they're all the sudden going to lose all the muscle? h**l no. They'll get right back on that bench and press that 100.

you'll be fine. trust me. One week will NOT make or break you.

consider it a nice recovery for you training this summer.

  13. It will greatly decrease your fitness level! I would recommend doing at least 3 easy runs to maintain. If you can't find any where to run, treadmills work to! Remember though you can cross train, biking, rollerblading, swimming, skating, weight lifting etc.

  14. No it takes 10-14 days to lose fitness. You should be okay if you have been running consistently through the summer.
