I havent been to the doctor yet. My appointment isnt until August 12th (next tuesday). I wanted to take some vitamins since I havent been prescribed any by the doc yet so I went and got me some gummy bear vitamins for children. Will this do for now or do I need something better?

  1. Some places do sell over the counter prenatal vitamins...just buy those.

  2. soemthing better.   the gummy vitamins while taste good, dont' have the required folic acid amount.

i just bought the flintstones. if you take two, it  equal 400mg foli acid.  i think i will stop taking those nasty nauseating pills and switch over to the gummies.  i just looked at the contents at cvs. there really is no difference.

  3. you need to be taking prenatal vitamins, they are in the same vitamin section as those gummy vitamins you got, but those are not sufficient vitamins for a pregnant woman.

  4. Yes my cousin took the flinstone gummy vitamins because she couldn't take the big hard ones. She had her baby August 1 2008 no problems

  5. My daughter was pregnant in 2006.  Her little boy is 21 months old and he is just so perfect.

The prenatal vitamins made her sick.  So her doctor actually told her to take children's vitamins.  She took 1 Flintstones chewable in the morning with her breakfast and one in the evening with her dinner.  Worked fine.

The main thing that you need this early in pregnancy is the folate/folic acid to prevent your baby from developing spina bifida.  That's not the only thing, obviously, but that's a real BIGGIE.  So if your Gummies give you that, take them and tell the doctor that's what you've been taking.

Good luck with your pregnancy and your little angel.
