  1. Yes, I have used the modalert.  I am prescribed provigil 400mg a day. A few times that I could not get approval from my insurance, I had to turn to other sources. I found that the modalert is much much cheaper and works just as well. It takes a couple of weeks to receive the order but it was worth the price difference. If you need help getting some, I can help you. email me at swlaughter1971@verizon.net.

  2. Some people who took Modalert says it worked but some complained of certain side effects or it's not effective, the same as its branded counterparts.

You can participaite in forums with people taking these Provigil alternatives. You can find those in search engines, or you can try comparing the prices from various pharmacies thru Pharmacy Reviewer at:

  3. I have worked at a pharmacy for the last 8 years and have never heard of it.  It could be a 'generic' available in India, just not here.

I personally would never order medicine from overseas.  It's too dangerous; the FDA does not regulate it so it could contain more or less of the active ingredient, which can pose serious problem.

Unfortunately, I cannot think of an alternate to Provigil.  I would talk to your doctor, since it only comes in brand name he may be able to give you samples.  You could also see if the manufacturer (Cephalon) offers any kind of program that gives you discounts.

  4. I just started using it; but because of it's strength & price & side affects (I read all the little printing), I decided to take a half - the pill is scored & you can cut it in half with a pill cutter.   It's cheaper to buy the 20mg & cut it in half, than to buy the 10mg --that's why I do it.  I also started it by taking one every other day and if I got up too late in the day, I wouldn't take it at all.  My doctor said never take it after 1 PM 'cause it'll keep you up all night - so the earlier in the AM , the better.  With my drug insurance, it costs me $50.00/ month so I can imagine how much it must be costing you.  I would ask about reducing the dosage and see if you could take it every other day since it's now in your system.  Also, I was wondering if the medicines you mention are herbs or supplements?  I also would not take any medicines that I knew were made in Asia.  Good Luck & do speak to your Doctor as the Pharmicist suggested.  Also, since it's being promoted heavily in magazines, I believe it's new & therefore;  would not have a generic one for a few years.
