  1. The next thing you will be told is your bank number is being updated and could you please type it in ( along with your PIN ) so as to verify that they have the correct account.

    Simple ... DON`T.

  2. Who has told you this? Because I've never heard of having your NI number updated. A few years ago I lost my number, and when I went to get a copy of it, I asked if I could just be sent a new number, and they said no, I had to keep my old one.

I wouldn't believe this, as I'm sure you keep the number from when you recieve it until the day you die.

check out hm revenue and customs' website, they have a lot of info on it.

  3. I don't think this is normal.  Don't give out any of your details.

  4. Tax number yes, National Insurance number never.

  5. Are you in the states???

Unless you are covered by Nationwide Insurance - I wouldn't give out any information.  We don't have a National Ins. # in the states.  If it is from your insurance company - double check with your Nationwide Agent and don't give out any information until you've researched where this comes from.

  6. someone is trying to steal your identity and give your nat insurance number to an illegal immigrant.

  7. This doesn't sound right to me!

  8. your tax code is normally updated yearly, but unless you were given a temporary NI number for some reason, it shouldn't be changing. The NI number is 2 letters followed by 6 numbers and another letter, and once issued it stays the same throughout your life.

The NI contributions office number 0845 302 1479

Open Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm. Phone them if you are unsure.

  9. I find it very difficult to believe. As has been said, once you're assigned a National Insurance Reference you're stuck with it for the rest of your life. As to the purpose of any change, since when has anybody in any government department had to have a purpose for doing something?

  10. I've never heard of that.  How old are you?

  11. I have never heard of this, your number should be the same from when you get it until you die.

  12. It's an asylum seeker trying to steal your identity.

Dont give them any information, tell the person who phoned you're busy, ask for their details and say you will phone them later.

  13. Get ye down to the job centre with the letter telling you this. Your NI number is yours for life and will not be changed. This could be a scam.

  14. be very careful about giving information to unknown people

  15. Sounds like a Scam...you have the same national insurance number forever.....beware.

  16. Nope. New one on me too.

    Who advised you of this?

  17. No it isn't and i've never heard of such a thing. The national insurance number you are given when you're 16 stays the same your whole life. It never needs updating as it never changes.

  18. I would seriously question this! Your NI number goes with you throughout your working life and into old age.

Have you migrated to the Gt Britain recently if that is the case, that could be the reason.
