I have been told that Graco and Evenflo ca seat bases are interchangeable. Does anybody know for sure?

My sister-in-law has a Graco travel system and we are looking at a Evenflo travel system. My mother-in-law would like to be able to use the same base in her car instead of needing 2 different ones. We have heard that the base will work with both brands but I can not find anything for sure.

This isn't really an answer, but I had to add that we bought a Recaro (www.recaro.com) and LOVE it. It's the older child size, converts to a booster, but it's the only US car seat rated for side impact. Easy to clean too!

Consumer reports rated car seats not long ago. All I remember from that was that this brand that's not even avail. in US was best. (figures.)

No. Different brands are not interchangeable as they have never been tested.  Realize that you do not need to use the base for either seat - you can install it using seat belts.

some carseats can be used without a base. mine is an evenflo and CANNOT be used without its base. i dont think they are interchangeable. even if they 'fit' its probably not safe. I got an extra base for mine at walmart.com for 30 dollars, you can to site to store and not have to pay shipping
