Proposed date of entry is 12/15/07, proposed date of exit is 01/15/08. I just want to make sure that I will not need to get an extension if I do not stay longer than one month past the date of entry.

  1. Ironically, I just got my visa for Vietnam today. It expires 30 days after my proposed date of entry.

  2. Not quite true. Your visa is valid up to the date posted on your visa, which will be about 30 days after your initial arrival if you have a tourist visa. In your case, your visa will expire on 01/15/2008.

If you feel that you're going to stay longer, then you should apply for an extension right away. Getting an extension is easy and most travel agencies or tour offices can do this for you at a nominal fee. It could take up to a week to process the extension, so you want to make sure this is done well ahead of when your visa will expire.

    Additional:

YES! You can obtain an extension once you're in Vietnam.

Keep in mind that your visa will expire on the date posted on the visa no matter whether you arrive two weeks later than expected. You will be able to extend you visa pretty easily upon arrival.  I would ask the customs agent at the airport to extend your visa on the spot. If they will not, then go to a travel agency or tour company as soon as you can.

  3. u have to make it up again...

  4. your visa will have and expiration date on it.. it will be 30-31  days [depending on the months] after the "entry date" [ also on your visa] reguardless of when you actually enter.   whatever it says thats how long its good for.in short , yes, you are correct.
