  1. I concur with RamaBana... when I remove the percentage symbol, I'm typically able to get the answer posted.  This has occured in this section as well as "Polls & Surveys", "Rail", "Military", and "Food & Cooking".

    Give it a try.

I THINK this occurs because a percent sign occurs in some harmful internet addresses.

  2. I've found that when I answer a question and get the "on break" message, if I remove symbols in the answer, like a percent sign, it will then post.

Tested on this post, sure enough, using the symbol I was unable to post.  I got the on break message.  I removed the symbol and typed it out, it now posts with no problem.

  3. Hi,

Here's a link to the category where we ask questions about "Yahoo! Answers".  http://answers.yahoo.com/dir/;_ylt=ApB79...

If you ask this question there, someone may be able to help you.

  4. Are you asking your peers to answer, or are you asking Yahoo?

  5. KNOWN GLITCHES due to updates: "Breather/coffee break" screen can result from: percent sign (or other symbols), hitting daily limit when answering, posting over 4 links per answer/question, leaving answer screen open for over 3 minutes. Also the '+' sign is 'eaten' in questions, question may have been deleted, you may be blocked by other person, posting the same link repeatedly, etc.

POSSIBLE FIXES: Eliminate symbols, shorten answers, wait until after midnight Pacific time (for daily limit issue), click BACK & try again, click F5 & try again, clear your cache & reboot, post something in the Source area, post a short answer & update with the longer answer (Warning: this may earn you a ‘placeholding’ violation, though!), remove links, go to another English site or another category.

<Feel free to borrow this answer and post to others!>

  6. It probably means that the question has been deleted.  It happened to me a couple of times and the was the reason.  If you go back to the question and instead of trying to post your answer just refresh the page, it will give you the message that it has been deleted.

I don't think it has to do with symbols, because there are tons of them in the Mathematics section and there is no problem posting them.

    Edit:

I just had this happen to me again, and my first answer actually did go through.  I did not see it, however, until I went back to the question to try and answer it again.  No idea what caused the error message in the first place.
