I finally decided to see a doc!! they have been doing alot of blood testing and on friday 8/1 i have a hsg!! my question is does it hurt and what do they do if i have a blocked tube??? do they fix it then of make another appt?? what do i feel after they fix a blocked tube?? how soon after they fix it can i get preg?? personal experience will be wonderful!!!

  1. Your doctor should have explained all that to you when they gave you the diagnosis.  Maybe they plan to discuss all this at a future appointment.

The hsg is definitely uncomfortable to say the least, though it seems to vary from woman to woman as to how much it hurts.  For me it felt like very bad menstrual cramping when they injected the dye, but it got better relatively quickly.  Take a painkiller before going in so that you can manage the pain a bit better.  

    My tubes were both clear, so I don't have personal experience with the second part of your question.  If it is a minor blockage, many times the dye from the hsg will clear the tube while they're doing the test.   From what I've heard, that hurts a whole lot more.  If you still have a blockage, I believe you would have another appointment to talk about what kind of treatment to pursue.
