I watched the final segment of today's race and I noticed that yellow, green and polka dotted jerseys were handed out at the end. What do the different jersey colors mean?

  1. i think it is yellow. i know from 2 years ago it was yellow but im not sure if its a different colour.

  2. yellow = overall GC leader

    green = spirinter's points

    polka dot = king of mountains

    white = best young rider (<25)

    red = most combative

  3. The tour awards 4 jerseys

    The Yellow is given to the rider with the best overall time after each stage.  The goal is to have the best time after the 21st stage. That rider will be the overall winner of the Tour.

    The Green jersey is given to the rider that has accumulated the most sprint points during the Tour.  Each stage has bonus  points given at different points during the stage.  The stage winner is given 35 pts and the following 24 riders are given points on a decreasing scale with the rider coming in 25th given 1 point.  It is possible for one man to win both the yellow and green jersey, especially this year with so few stages that favor the sprinters.

    The Polka-Dot jersey is given to the rider who accumulates the most points on the mountain climbs.  The tougher the climb the more points are given to the first 3 riders over the top.

    The White jersey given to the best placed rider under 25 yrs of age.

    Each day a rider is named the most aggressive rider of that stage. He were a red number on his back the following day.

    The Team with the best accumulative time of it's top 5 (maybe be 3) riders wears a yellow number on their back.
