and the other lives with me when he is not in college. I am a single mom(divorced) and me, my son and my boyfriend of 10 years live in a nice home. I owned a hair salon for many years, and Jim (my boyfriend) he talked me into going into Real Estate, I sold my shop and Real Estate was going well for a while, well.....now that the market is way down, i feel the effects so I went to our local hospital and got a job, part time,as a Barrista(selling coffee at our coffee shop in the hospital.Good Benefits! We all need them.Right? Problem? I,m bored !!! I have been pondering the thought of having my own shop again, at first I thought....maybe I would open a lattee and coffee shop and then I went back to thinking about the hair salon.Am I too old to be thinking of this, if I stay at the hospital, I have nsurance. What to do? Help!!

  1. In most states, businesses cannot be turned down for health insurance.  Talk to a local health insurance broker to show you options, so you can work that into your business plan.

I say if you want to do retail again, go with your passion and your competitive advantage.  Heck, maybe it's Cut N Cappuccino.  But remember to figure the economic impact into your business.  The "latte factor" is an actual term, and going longer between cuts and color is an easy way to save money.

  2. Well, can't you do both?  Barrista by night, hairdresser by day?  Part time?  That way, you have both the interest, AND the benefits??
