I was diagnosed in 2005 and I have been on and off medications. My disorder is preventing me from leading a normal and productive life.

  1. Well 100 percent, not really. I would say 85% depends on how you live your life. I had bipolar disorder 3 month ago. Don't let your self become too stressed or it will happen again. Take vitamin B complex and C together everyday, this really helps. Also those medication aren't as good as you think. If you keep relay on them you are nothing different than a drug addict.

  2. only because of medications, can you recover ... they let you solve the problem, but make no mistake ... medication is always required

you cannot really cure manic depression

  3. There are odd cases of people recovering completely. I've known such people. And many people do learn to live productively. But 100% recovery is somewhat rare.

  4. While there is no CURE bipolar is a treatable and manageable illness.

After an accurate diagnosis, most people can achieve an optimal level of wellness.

MEDICATION is an essential element of successful treatment for people with bipolar disorder. Again, medication is needed to lead a normal and productive life!

"In addition, psychosocial therapies including cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, family therapy, and psychoeducation are important to help people understand the illness and to internalize skills to cope with the stresses that can trigger episodes."

Unlike what has been suggested by others, using medication to control bipolar is not the same as a drug addict. That is the same as saying that a diabetic it a drug addict because they need medication.

The only way that you are going to be able to have a life worth living is to get back on some medication with a psychiatrist prescribing it. A family doctor is not trained in mental health.

    Best Wishes!!!

  5. I have had bipolar disorder since I was 17 - I'm 22 now and on a medication called Abilify which works for me - I have been on many medications in the past which finally led to me finding this one - I wrote about how communicating with my doctor helped me too -

I would like to think I am recovered in a 90s percentage because I am almost done with college and am living on my own - it is absolutely possible to overcome it.
