Does anyone else with bipolar disorder have this problem? I am just wondering how common it is. I was first diagnosed with anxiety and depression.

  1. My daughter is bipolar and also suffers from anxiety. She takes abilify and lamictal and we just started her on lexapro (an anti depressant and anti anxiety medication) it is working out really well for her.

  2. yes I do and yes I was first diagnosed with depression also.

I am on Effexor for depression and Lamical for manic depression.

  3. YES!! I most certainly have this problem. I take Lamictal and feel very level for most of the time. However, I do have anxiety problems occasionally (this is when Xanax can help).

First, find out what triggers that anxiety. Maybe try to avoid those things, or face them (as I do) and talk yourself through it. This can be very difficult to do though. I wondered if this was weird myself when it started happening. You are not alone here.

And always, your doctor should be told. Mine told me that this can be common.

  4. I have the same problem..i was first diagnosed with depression. my doctor has me on lamictal and wellbutrin, and the wellbutrin helps the depression and the anxiety. I just had an anxiety attack for 2 days straight and it felt like my chest was caving in and i was put on xanax, i personally don't like that drug because it gives me a hangover feeling the next day. just remember to relax and breathe and try not to think of the issue that is stressing you out bad enough to have an anxiety attack..get your mind on something else for a while..i know its hard but it really helps
