  1. Try hydrogen peroxide! Dilute with water in a spray bottle, then apply to the black spots. You'll see it foam up, let it sit for a couple of minutes then scrub it a bit and rinse. It may take repeated applications, but over time this should work.

I used to work for a cleaning company, and we'd come across this in people's bathrooms from time to time and use the hydrogen peroxide to clear it up. It's cheap, you might already have it kicking around your bathroom, and it doesn't stink as bad as bleach!

If you get it cleaned up and it keeps coming back, I would definitely suggest investigating under the surface.

  2. you have ceramic tile and grout?

you need to find the source of the mold..is water getting under the grout somewhere, is the bath improperly caulked, vented, etc.

i would find the problem, vent the bath, get a grout removal tool and get all of the grout out.  then i would regrout, seal, and be done w it.  you can do this yourself, its not hard to do.

  3. Yes bleach should work, and you're friend is right, it is very bad for you.

  4. Gross, tell ur mom to clean it.

go clubbing or something, and let ur mom do it.

if ur moms not there then call ur grandma.

  5. well you need something that will kill mold,, bleach will not do it.. try using some vinegar,, and clean it with that,, vinegar kills bacteria,, also try opening the top window or installing an air vent since this is caused by the humidity in the bath room so try to keep it ventilated,,,

  6. Ok, so we both know that mold is indeed a Organic growth common in areas exposed to moisture. Some varieties are thought to pose health problems for certain individuals.

One VERY common mold that is bad to breathe is called Stachybotrys chartarum - this is a type of mold that can grow in parts of a structure exposed to constant moisture. Many claim adverse health effects from exposure to this growth.

Professionals use techniques ranging from Drying & Air

Cleaning Equip (drying the area), to chemical use such as the bleach you are talking about and vinegar.

You should use bleach depending on the area of the mold, bleach can damage wood and carpet.  Or contact a professional and ask them their opinion at 1(949) 554-4791. Good luck.

  7. Bleach does NOT work, Bleach just whitens the mold, it does not kill it, some molds have a protective barrier...alcohol may  work, Though I read somewhere that it just may preserve it...

as my experiance with molds, I'd suggest dry heat some how(Fire, Dihumidifier)...and some sort of house hold cleaner.

  8. Oh my. Bleach should get it off as it's so strong! Wear gloves and use one of them double sided sponges with a rougher side which would work better than a normal sponge..

  9. Clorox makes a bleach pen.  Try that or Soft Scrub w/ bleach.  Let it sit a few minutes before scrubbing.

  10. Bleach should work just fine. Wear a mask. Some professionals may disagree- http://www.brandsconstruction.com/WordPr... has an article that suggests calling in professionals to clean up the mold.

Before you familiarize yourself with what you should do if you find mold in your bathroom, it is important to examine what mold is. Mold is scientifically described as being a microscopic fungus. This fungus not only looks unattractive, but it can be dangerous. While some types of mold are considered relatively harmless, there are other types of mold that are considered toxic. Unfortunately, due to the moisture that can be found inside most bathrooms, black, toxic mold can be found in thousands of bathrooms in the United States. If you start to remodel your bathroom and you find mold under your toilet or even under you floor tiles, there is a good chance that you may have black mold on your hands.

Installing a bathroom ventilation fan helps to prevent excessive moisture in bathrooms.  Keeping bathroom tiles clean with products such as bleach is as effective as anything. My wife  uses a light solution of bleach for our tiles  http://www.homeplansforfree.com/Free-Bat... and it seems to do the trick just fine!

Baking soda also works well with an old toothbrush or scrubbing brush for hard to clean areas like grout lines.

  11. try bleach but wear a mask and gloves ..hostpital mask maybe  ?

  12. Try this site

    http://www.ehow.com/how_2075241_remove-b...

  13. Yes, you should try bleach.  Let it soak on there for awhile then scrub it off.

  14. Bleach mixed with water will work but as a house painter for over 25 years the problem stems from poor ventilation. What you need to do is clean the walls will bleach, then put a coat of oil base primer and sealer over it then latex semi-gloss for a finish coat. That will seal the ceiling and walls and stop it at that point.

  15. That black mold is problably mildew.

Buy things from the store that will effectively remove mildew (for example maybe tilex) and yes try bleach. Bleach works great for mildew but wear gloves and be careful you don't want to irritate your skin.

  16. after you clean it you should paint with kiltz to seal it up . it might be mildew.or mold but clean first then paint

  17. Try bleach.

You can also get a cheap dollar-store spray bottle and fill it up with vinegar. Then spray it on liberally and let it sit for a bit. Then try to wipe off.

If you're renting, contact your building manager. they might actually have to call in experts to remove it, and repaint/redo your bathroom with anti-fungal stuff (that happened to me in my apartment a few years ago).

  18. clorox cleanup works well....just have good ventillation
