  1. You have a CAT5 cable. Each one of those colors has a corresponding white cable. Thus, it's green paired with green/white, orange paired with orange/white, and so forth.

If all you care about is a phone connection, then green and green/white is what's called Line 1, and they're located in the middle two pins on your RJ 11 jack. Orange and orange/white are Line 2, and they're located on either side of green and green/white. Wrap up the brown, brown/white, purple and purple/white wires for future use.

  2. honey..open one of your other jacks..see what colors are hooked up...and hook up those corrosponding colors in the new jack with the new wire...

  3. yes you can. use these wire colors to the jack.

green wire. to the green wire on the jack and the red wire. to the red wire on the jack. you don't need to use the black and yellow wires from the jack and the wire cable. if the wires of the colors break. strip a 1/4 inch. of the wire to have copper to put on the jack. if there is no red, green, yellow, or black. the colors will be white/blue, then white/Orange, then white/ green, and white/brown. what is called a 4 pair wire. then there is a 2 pair wire with just the white/blue and white/Orange.

you only need the white/blue wires. the rest of the wires just wrap around the cable. now take the white wire and put it to the green wire on the jack. and the blue wire on the red side of the jack. if it has a cover put it on after you put the jack on the wall.
