I have booked a cruise as a Christmas present for my wife. Any innovative ways to present this to her?

I have thought of a few ideas like putting a model of a cruise ship on the tree but was wondering if anyone else out there had some good ideas as well. Thanks in advance for helping a man out :)

  1. This is what I would do:  Tell her that for a Christmas present, you are going on a trip.  Only don't tell her where.  Then, when you get within range of the ship, blind fold her so she can't see it.  When you get to the port, have her take off the blind fold, but have her facing away from the ship.  Then tell her to turn around.  She turns around and there's the ship.  I think that would be a fun way to surpise her.

  2. put the tickets in the stack of mail and give it to her to sort out. Put it in an envelope that says, your admirer has paid for your cruise..

  3. First of all - way to go! Great gift, I'm sure she'll be thrilled!

My siblings and I gave my parents a cruise for thier 25th anniversary and this is how we did it:

We bought a little boat from the toy department at Walmart and made a little sail that said "Bermuda Bound" in big bold lettering. My parents "got it" right away. You could even buy "little people" toys to put in the boat and label them with you and your wife's name.

However you decide to do it, she will be thrilled. Cruises are amazing, you guys are going to have a great time!

    Hope this helps!

  4. it would help to know when you are going and where, i.e., Alaska, Mediterranian, Caribbean??/

  5. buy her a bathing suit and suntan lotion, and when she questions it you can give her the tickets.

  6. You shouldn't tell her where you are going, and when you get insight of the ship have her close her eyes. She will be so surprised when she sees that huge ship right in front of her!

P.S. Don't do it in a kidnapping way!

  7. Pre-pack all of the suitcases. Then, pay some guys with thick necks to kidnap her, blindfold her and put her in the trunk of your car. She won't know where she's being taken, but it will be quite the surprise when you open the trunk and let her out in the shadow of an 80,000 ton ship. And, just for that one moment when she first sees that you are the one opening the trunk, you will be her hero! Or, she'll kill you...

    Just kidding...Bon Voyage!

ps: have a noise-maker in your mouth, ready to blow when you open the trunk!

update:  I also think it would be a nice touch to hire a steel drum band and a waiter with a tray of pina coladas, stationed at the rear of the car... :-o

THE REAL ANSWER: Okay, boxerjoe, there's no way to hide something as over-whelming as a cruise, on which I have been on many, so I would suggest isolating the issue. Make reservations at a nice restaurant..candles and all...like it's a special occasion...and when she asks, "What are we celebrating, honey?"...you answer , "We're celebrating you." Then hand her the itinerary. That should do the trick!

ps: You have to tell her well in advance, so she will pack the right things and read-up on the ship's materials. Have fun, joe!

  8. - wrap up a model of the cruise ship and give it to her

    - cut out pictures of the places you are going and put them in a card

    - wrap up a suitcase with luggage tags already on it

    - put a "bon voyage" card in her stocking

Short of dressing up like a captain or a sailor I'm out of ideas!

  9. You've already got so many great idea's to choose from.

Just have fun, we go every year!

  10. Go on line and print up the itinerary and the menu. Put them in a nice leather bound notebook with a picture of the ship on the front. Wrap it and stick it under the tree.

  11. Put the booking details inside a rubber ducky and then wrap it up and stick it under the tree.

  12. It's just another way to get your money, but most of the major cruise lines sell products.  Mostly, aimed at people who were on a cruise and want to bring that vacation feeling home, or admired the towels and such.  Anyway, go to the website for your cruise line and find out what they're selling.  You might be able to purcase a little something that has the cruise line logo.

Or even make a pretend item.  Take a permanent marker, and a cheap plate, and copy the logo.  Or wrap a chocolate in a brochure, and leave it on her pillow.

    Have fun!
