  1. I would suggest you join the Rya if not already a member and you must have insurance.

    It is recommended to undertake a minimum of a RYA level 2 powerboat course as in the event of an accident or anything you know at least can show you are competent to helm a boat and know what to do.

    each local authority levies charges for launching on their slipways, although some may be free.

    The RYA can offer guidance and advice.

  3. You do not need any licenses to operate a speed boat on coastal waters. You may have to make arrangements as to where to launch and retrieve the boat. (and leave your trailer etc.)

    Be aware of the safety requirements to take a small craft out to sea and research the local conditions, tides etc.

    Lastly you must have insurance to cover third party claims.

  4. No, no licence required. Some areas do have bylaws which can require you to provide proof of insurance before launching but i don't recall ever having been asked.

  5. No. But take care. The Sea is a dangerous environment.
