I have bought a trick cue ball for pool - how can I keep my friend from seeing me?

Question

change the ball everytime it's his shot (then again when it's someone elses shot)

any tips ?

(me and my other friend are trying to wind him up)

Well, you could "accidentally" scratch then "thoughtfully" retrieve the cue ball for him.   The tough part would be to get the regular cue ball back on the table when it's your time to shoot...good luck with that!

Ask the friend ur trying to trick to go and get everyone drinks or get him out of the room doing something thatll take a couple mins then switch the balls before he gets back.  this will only work if its 1v1 if its 2v2 find a way to get him to look at something on the wall or under the table or a chair, maybe "accidently" drop the chalk under a chair and switch them, try using a combination of the two also

That will be tricky (pardon the pun) to do.  If you try and distract him every time it is his turn at the table in order to replace the cue ball I think he will catch on very quickly.  Good luck though...should be funny if you can actually pull off this trick!
