I have bought myself an Olevia 242TFHD and when I hook up my cable box by HDMI cable, it produce no sound.?

I have tried my VCR by RCA (yellow, red and white) and the audio work fine. When I hooked up the red and white for the audio from the cable box to the TV+ HDMI cable, the sound came on. I really thought that HDMI should deliver both digital audio and video.

i actually just hooked up my hdmi cables and got the same problem i just came on here to find this out. lets see if we can figure this out together, the picture looks great but theres no audio and its really irritating.lol. im gonna keep lookin on google or w/e and see if i can find anything if i find something ill keep u posted

SOME TIMES YOU HAVE TO TURN THE HDMI ON. LOOK IN YOUR SETTINGS MENU AND LOOK IN THE SUB MENU OF WHAT EVER INPUT YOUR USING FOR YOUR CABLE BOX AND "LOOK AROUND" TO SEE WHAT AUDIO CHOICES YOU HAVE.

IF THAT DOESN'T WORK GET OUT THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL OF YOUR CABLE BOX AND DO THE SAME.
