I have braces and i got this hook bcuz my jaw isnt aligned, is it broken??

its this hook on my right side of my mouth and i need to use latex elastics or these circular rubber bands to hook it, so it aligns my jaw, BUT

it keeps going down and its loose. but i went to my orthodonist and she said its fine. but it happens all the time it makes a click noise and then it goes down lower then the wire its attactched to
