The toilet system is enclosed behind a tiled box section and when the lid was removed to fix the toilet 3 tiles were broken! the tiles are 6"*6" white but the new ones seem a lot brighter than the 20 yr old ones even after cleaning. Is it possible to disguise the new tiles so my wife doesn't notice when she gets back from holiday?

  1. use mighty putty. remold it into the tile and polish it.

  2. Unfortunately it's rather difficult to find a perfect match this is why we should always buy extras when we do a project. The only thing that I can think of is to add 3 tiles that have a raised motif on them or some sort of design like sea shells or anything that would suit your bathroom, you can have 1 plain in the center and 2 with a pattern or if you are lucky you could find some sort of decoration that would fit an 18x6 space, providing that the broken tiles are in a row. if you could send  a picture I would be able to visualize it better and help you look for a replacement , are you in Canada ?  Another place that you could look for them is the  Habitat Store  I have found a lot of things that we needed when we did repairs such as yours .

  3. Most shops with a paint section sell tile paint, you could use that. They sell it in lots of colours including white.

You could buy a tin of that, follow the instructions & tell your wife that you thought the tiles looked a bit old, so you re-vamped them as a surprise for her, that way she'll never know the difference.

    Good luck. X ;-)

  4. we do a lot of tile repair and if you have time go on line and search older tile and you will be surprised of what you can find.
