i have built small extension what type and size wire will i need for new sockets and lighting in the new kitchen area, thanks

  1. And a qualification in Electrical Installation and testing

    IE. 16th edition to include part P of the building regs.


  2. i'd use 12 awg

  3. You will need 2.5mm T&E for the ring main & 1.0 or1.5 T&E for the lighting circuit

  4. If your in the uk laws brought in in April 07 make it illegal for you to do your own electric this is called Part P of the Building Regulations Act

    In any case ring mains (sockets) are 2.5mm lights are either 1.0 or 1.5mm depending on the size of the ciruit

    6.0 - 10.0 for showers & cookers depending on the kw size of the appliance and distance from the electricity box

  5. If u r in the uk I think you'll find the new P regs forbids you from doing any electrical work in a kitchen & you will need an electrician.

  6. And 6mm for the cooker circuit
