Question:

I have cable and dsl. How to use them both?

I have both cable and DSL connections in my home. I want to use them both, so that my computers can take advantage of the combined speed.

Right now my router (Linksys WRT54G) has only one "uplink" port. So I can only connect either cable *or* DSL. Are there routers with two "uplink" ports?

  1. It doesn't work that way.  You can only use either cable OR DSL not both at the same time on the same computer.  That's why routers only have one uplink port.  It's simply impossible to get signals from two uplink sources at the same time.

  2. You can only use one or the other. You - or somebody else- is paying for both services.  If you are on the internet a lot, i would drop dsl and keep cable - especially if you are into gaming.

  3. You can't use them both at the same time because they both use different IP addresses. I would quit using cable and stay with the DSL. You can buy 2 different routers and connect half your computers to one and half your computers to the other.

There is no way to combine them.
