  1. I would do this...since you have a very small budget. You could rip up the carpet and buff and stain the concrete and get tile lines routed out. It looks AWESOME!!! Alot of ppl do this in their new houses with their foundation slab because flooring can get pricey after building a house. See these pictures??? it just looks great..these are acid stained concrete flooring ( you could even possibly do a design on the floor before putting the finishing coat on.

Its loads of style, for not that much. Price it out..you'll see.

  2. You could try looking at hardwood. It lasts quite a long tI'me... but im not quite sure about the prices (but you should be able to find some with a decent price)

    I hope this helps =]

  3. Linoleum tile floors last about 20 years but is ridiculously cheap (or should be).

Ceramic tiles (a little pricier but significantly better, sturdier, and easier to clean) can last several decades if taken care of correctly.

My house in atlanta use ceramics, it costed me about $750 dollars to cover 40 square feet (this might be too much money for you though but I don't know how small your budget is).
