however, only one person has signed, is this optional or is it a case of 2 spaces, 2 signatures required? Many thanks.

  1. I have my own company and have two signatorys, but only one is needed.

We have two so that If I'm not there my partner can pay the wages.

  2. The checks may have been printed previously when two signatures were required.  Most likely the company modified its signature requirements with the bank or finacial institution.

  3. Typically, companies required 2 signatures for checks over a certain amount.  The amount is usually reflected near the signature lines.  If only one person signed and there's no other information, it's probable that the amount of the check did not rise to the level of needing 2 signatories.

  4. In the organisation i work for (a Charity) the cheques also have 2 signator lines. The accounts are set up so only one signature is required for amounts up to £1000  but two are needed for amounts over that.  Many companies use the same system though obviously there will be big variations in the amounts involved.

  5. Depends how the bank account was set up, however it is normal for most small businesses to require 2 signatures ..

Here's a really cunning idea - why not ring them up & ask them :-) ??

  6. generally, a two-line cheque requires two signatures; however, there are some exceptions, such as payroll, then only the accounting/financial officer need sign it...

  7. i would have thought 2 signatures
