I have cracks in joints of Sheetrock ceiling after tape & joint.How can i rectify it?

What is proper method of treating the sheetrock joints?What might be cause of cracks in joints?

  1. If the joins were taped and set properly there should not be any cracking, unless there is excessive movement in the ceiling joists. If this is the case, you may need to scrape the cracks out a bit, and fill them with a flexible filler before re-painting.


  2. cracking is caused by2 things....not taped and mudded right.....or movement in the ceiling.    if a 2 story house r these the floor joist for the second floor....might be deflecting and causing crack.....u need to sand about a 12" strip down the middle of the crack and clean out the joint and retape and mud....

  3. I recommend using mesh tape instead of paper tape.
