Also, as we are pensioners, can anyone tell me how much it would cost on the Gold Coast to go privately. Believe could take a while to get this through the hospital system, and am in pain, and hobbling round, and carer for my 80 year old husband, so desperately need to get this sorted. Please help.

  1. My friend had an MRI scan for her hip. Its around 30-60 minutes. You have to stay VERY still and will get bored. Just close your eyes, bring along an iPod or walkman and listen to music and the time will go by fast!

  2. I have had 3 of them.  There is absolutely nothing to worry about as long as you don't have metal in or on your body.  They are quite noisy though which I found to be the worst bit about them.  I had mine done privately before Medicare started covering them and they were around $600 each.  I don't think the price has changed much in the past 10 years.  If you need an operation and your hubby is dependent on you, he may need to go into respite care while you have your knee sorted out.  Good luck!

  3. I personally would ask to be sedated.
