I have damaged my xd

Question

i have damaged my xd memory card by inserting it into the wrong memory card reader. i did managed to get it back out but i have damaged it. i can see scratches on the gold contacts. my camera is now saying it can't read the card as it has an error, nor will it let me format the card....Help...please
