I have damaged the wooden fire surround (turned the wood white) with a wallpaper steamer. how can I repair it?

  1. All you've done is force steam under the finish on the wood, rubbing the surface will do nothing to remedy the situation. Just be patient and the moisture will eventually work its way out - the same applies to steam rings on furniture left by hot mugs with wet bases.


  2. could you touch it up with a varnish the same (or as near as) colour.
