I have dell laptop how can i get good speed while connet on to net.?

i have dell laptop 1.67 GHz, ram 504 mb , 80 GB hard disk

after connect to internet speed get very low . how should i increase the speed . memorry 40 gb used on it.

please give me suggestion.

First remove some junk from your drive, like programs you don't use remove them. Also delete the internet history once in while once very 3 weeks will be fine. For a computer to be fast enough for your needs a 2 GB ram is required. But most important its your internet connection, dial up is very slow, AT&T has basic high speed internet, faster than dial up but it also offers the pro and elite the faster the connection the more you will pay.

Make sure you run one program at a time,do not just minimize a program if you are not using it ,just close program down,do not leave and cd /DVD in cd/dvd player, make sure you keep your laptop in a cool area not on blanket or cover sheet cause air has to circulate freely,Uploading and downloading will make your bandwidth to be slow,

make sure your firewall is on at all time,if you have any program that's comes on with your start up take them off of your start up menu...by the way you are not clear there is not such a thing as 40gig in your memory,,the maximum Ram memory in your laptop is 2 to 4Gig.
