I have devised a system to dramatically reduce vehicle emissions. Now how do I make money out of it?

My system is surprisingly simple - probably why no one else has thought of it! Yet it cannot fail to work and no - it's nothing so daft as 'get rid of all the cars'.or 'stop people from driving them' I have heard that some outfit is offering a prize for a practical system that really does work - and mine cannot fail.

Well if you tell me I will then help you. And then I, I mean you can make millions. Nah, I'm joking just apply for a patent and then it's secure and then take it to a company. When you do this copy the plans and send them to yourself via mail so you get a stamp and then leave it in a drawer and do not open it. You can then use this if someone steals your idea, when you ask them to show a date earlier than this as proof.

First build it and they will come.  Then they will see that it works.  Have your ironclad patent in hand and offer to sell the rights to use it for say 1% of the price of every car sold using it and offer it to every auto maker at that price.

This idea is free to whoever wants to use it.  Build a plug-in electric vehicle with a 50 mile range.  Then add a steam engine driven generator that will keep the batteries charged so you can drive more than 50 miles.  About 80% of your driving will be as an electric vehicle within 25 miles of home, the steam engine generator would use any liquid or gaseous fuel you select for the other 20%.  Very low fuel use for the total miles traveled, but all the convenience of a regular car.

It is unlikely you can make money from it.  Ways to dramatically reduce vehicle emissions have been known for 70 years.  The issue is cost and convenience.

Unless your method is less costly and more convenient then known technology, don't expect any renumeration.

Secure the idea first by applying an "international" patent if need be, people sometimes slip up on this one. The only thing after that would be where do i go from here ? Not sure but i would definitley consider the Honda motor company as they appear to be spending more and trying very hard in this field. Wish you the best of luck and of course good fortune.

Sell it to the Global Warming companies. They'll pay good money to supress anything that will make their silly bubble explode. They have too much vested interest in the status quo.

Protect your intellectual property by patenting it first.

Write to all major auto companies giving some non critical info with a rider that you are willing for a personal discussion provided they agree to a non-disclosure agreement.

You may incur a substantial expense in patent and legal fees.
